The Lawdragon Process

The Lawdragon selection process has been created by professionals who have reported on and worked with the world’s most accomplished lawyers for more than 100 years. We founded Lawdragon in 2005 to offer insightful, contemporary and even-handed analysis of the ever-evolving global legal market.

The foundation of our selection is in journalism. We research each guide extensively, studying which lawyers and law practices have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent cases and deals handled and activity in matters of the moment.

We accept submissions and review them alongside thousands of candidates we independently identify and consider for each guide.

The inaugural edition of The Lawdragon 500 Leading Global Antitrust & Competition Lawyers is aimed to honor the emerging global corps of competition and antitrust specialists in transactions, administrative/regulatory matters, and litigation. We are considering disputes lawyers who litigate and advocate, both on the plaintiff and defense sides, in government forums as well as in private enforcement. Many of those recognized will be leaders advising on and carrying the brief for clients in investigations before the world’s leading competition authorities. Contenders, as well, will include those transactional lawyers who guide clients through deals in which competition is chief among the considerations.

To make a Lawdragon guide, a lawyer will have been in practice 15 years, with extremely rare exceptions, and in most cases significantly more. Similarly, virtually all will be partners in their law practice or hold a designation that indicates the regard of those with whom they practice. Leadership within their practice in a firm and or in relevant bar organizations is considered. We aim to include those others aspire to be and who are admired for their intellect and wisdom as well as conduct and leadership.

Lawdragon is an advocate for inclusion in the legal profession and searches extensively for female and inclusive candidates who further equality in the legal profession.
