The Lawdragon Process

The Lawdragon selection process has been created over 30 years of researching and reporting on the legal profession and creating guides to the most effective legal professionals. Our team brings more than 100 years in the lawyer reporting and information business.

The foundation of our selection is in journalism. We research each guide extensively, studying which professionals have had significant impact, including an emphasis on recent matters handled. We encourage submissions – though they are not required – and review them alongside candidates we identify and consider for The Lawdragon 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know. We vet candidates with peers and other critical observers.

We are looking for those who not only hold the title of leadership, but do the job. Our intention is to recognize the most admired figures in law firm leadership globally. While the vast majority of this inaugural guide will almost certainly be U.S. based or work in the global offices of UK firms, we are inspired by those embracing enthusiastic, creative, driven and intelligent approaches to law firm growth, performance, management and vision no matter where they hang their hat.

We seek the game changers, whether his or her title is chairperson, executive partner, managing partner or the like. Transforming a firm into a true global player is of equal interest to us as leading the performance of a top plaintiff firm or the expansion into a new market of a corporate firm.
