Boies Schiller & Flexner is bolstering its Southern California presence to meet a demand for its work out there, according to an article by the Los Angeles Daily Journal (subscription required). The DJ interviewed Lawdragon 500 member and firm co-managing partner Jonathan Schiller, who said that the firm has been adding attorneys out there gradually and expects to have 10-12 attorneys by the end of the year. Boies Schiller already has a 20-attorney Oakland office.
The firm, and in particular Schiller’s fellow Lawdragon 500 honoree and co-managing partner David Boies, already has been handling a lot of high-profile work out west. Boies successfully represented Jamie McCourt in her divorce case with husband Frank, and he also won the gay-marriage case involving California’s Prop. 8 ban. Schiller added that firm client Oracle will rely on Boies again this year in an anticipated lawsuit against Google over the android app.
