Not surprisingly, the decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to strike down California’s ban on same-sex marriages has become one of the most talked about legal stories of the new year.
Lawdragon spent several weeks in San Francisco federal court last year attending the trial over Proposition 8, the voter initiative banning gay marriages that passed with 52 percent of the vote, to produce a feature story that strongly suggested the plaintiffs’ victory – orchestrated by Lawdragon 500 members David Boies and Ted Olson – was the likely outcome.
We’ll continue following the story, whether or not this particular case makes it to the U.S. Supreme Court. For now, we thought the news merited another look at our truly inside account of the historic case and proceedings.
