Anthony D. Shapiro, a partner at Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, died Nov. 16, 2020, from cancer. He was 62.
The firm announced his passing, noting his profound dedication to helping families with wrongful death, brain injury and catastrophic personal injury claims.
In a 2019 interview with Lawdragon, he spoke of what drove him in his practice: “In the simplest terms, I enjoy helping people, and in personal injury representation, you really see the effect of your efforts. In personal injury work, when you get a result for someone who has been badly injured, you are helping make your clients’ life easier and better. I find it to be incredibly gratifying work.”
He was also active in the firm’s class-action practice, which was how he and founder Steve Berman connected – working on the Exxon Valdez oil spill litigation.
Shapiro is survived by his wife, Deb, and sons Sam and Nate.
