NEW YORK, July 25, 2012 -- Arnold & Porter LLP announced today that Evan Hollander has joined the firm as a bankruptcy partner in the New York office. Mr. Hollander’s practice focuses on advising domestic and non-U.S. clients in insolvency proceedings and financial restructuring matters, both in and out of court. He also counsels parties interested in acquiring assets of troubled companies, and structuring commercial transactions to reduce or eliminate risk. In addition to his extensive experience in U.S. based restructuring matters, Mr. Hollander has significant experience in multi-national restructuring matters, including the representation of debtors, lenders and other significant parties in cross-border insolvencies and the representation of debtors and other parties in Chapter 15 proceedings.
“Evan’s deep experience in both litigation and transactional restructuring matters complements our existing expertise in a very important field for us,” said Thomas Milch, Arnold & Porter’s Chairman. “He also provides further depth to our busy New York bankruptcy team.”
Arnold & Porter has a robust practice in the NY bankruptcy courts. Recent matters have included the representation of the Chrysler National Dealer Council in Chrysler’s Chapter 11 case, Quebecor World (USA) Inc. and 52 of its affiliated entities in their reorganization, and Northwest Airlines as special counsel in its bankruptcy case. “Given the constant stream of bankruptcy and restructuring activity in New York, Evan’s practice enhances our platform and expands the capabilities of our already highly experienced, full-service, innovative bankruptcy and corporate restructuring team,” said Michael Bernstein, Chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Restructuring practice.
Mr. Hollander has handled bankruptcy and restructuring matters for many leading companies, banks and other entities, including BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Deutsche Bank, UBS, ING, and the Export Credit Bank of Brazil. He has represented both JSC BTA Bank and JSC Alliance Bank in Chapter 15 proceedings in the Southern District of New York ancillary to foreign main proceedings in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and has represented Wind Hellas in Chapter 15 proceedings in the District of Delaware ancillary to foreign main proceedings in England. He has been a member of the New York State Bar since 1988 and has practiced in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York and the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York since 1989. Mr. Hollander is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute.
“Arnold & Porter presents an expansive platform that enhances my existing practice and allows for significant collaboration with my new bankruptcy colleagues, as well as with lawyers in other practice groups and offices,” said Evan Hollander. “I look forward to what this opportunity will mean for our clients.”
