NEW YORK, NEW YORK, MARCH 13, 2013Alston & Bird LLP today announced the addition of respected litigator John D. Roesser to the firm’s litigation roster.

Mr. Roesser serves a variety of clients in the financial services arena, as well as other industries ranging from global media and entertainment to automotive manufacturing.  With distinct expertise in international arbitration and litigation, as well as securities litigation, he represents clients in complex international disputes before the leading arbitral organizations and state and federal courts.

“We expect John to deliver significant punch to an already excellent litigation team in New York,” said Alston & Bird managing partner Richard Hays.  “His presence will provide additional depth in key areas, including international arbitration, securities litigation, financial services litigation, and cross-border litigation.”

Mr. Roesser will lead the New York office’s efforts in international arbitration.  He represents a broad range of clients in complex commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.  He serves as a member of the ICC Court of Arbitration’s Commission on Arbitration and has served on the ICC’s Task Force on the Production of Electronic Documents in Arbitration.  He is also a member of the board of the New York International Arbitration Center, scheduled to open in 2013, and has served on various international litigation and arbitration bar committees, including the NYC Bar Association Arbitration Committee, and as co-chair of the ABA’s subcommittee on arbitration. 

In the securities arena, Mr. Roesser’s practice is focused on the representation of companies, directors, and officers in securities and other financial litigation, including securities actions (1933, 1934 and 1940 Acts), shareholder derivative disputes, breach of fiduciary duty and other corporate governance actions, and in disputes arising out of swaps and derivative products.

He received his B.A. with distinction from Connecticut College in 1992 and graduated with honors from George Washington University Law School in 1995, where he currently serves on the advisory board.
