Glaser Weil is pleased to announce that Timothy B. McOsker, former Chief of Staff to Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn and former Chief Deputy City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles, has re-joined the Firm. With his wide range of experience in governmental, regulatory and administrative law, Mr. McOsker will co- chair Glaser Weil’s 10-member Government and Regulatory Practice from the Firm’s new Downtown Los Angeles branch office at Bank of America Plaza.
“Tim’s background in public policy, land development and many other areas of governmental law will allow us to continue providing our clients with the highest caliber of service,” said Glaser Weil Managing Partner Peter Weil. “We are thrilled to have him back on board as one of the leaders in our Firm.”
For more than 25 years, Mr. McOsker’s career has focused on legislative and regulatory matters for both public and private clients, including in the areas of land use, environmental, permits, contracts and related issues before local, regional and state governmental agencies. He has represented clients on some of Southern California’s largest and most significant projects. Mr. McOsker was a partner at Glaser Weil’s Century City office from 2005 until 2008, when he left to practice at a global law firm.
As Mayor Hahn’s Chief of Staff, Mr. McOsker managed the day-to-day operations of the Mayor’s Office and implemented policy initiatives in cooperation with the departments, commissions and officers of the City on behalf of the Mayor. Before serving as Chief of Staff, Mr. McOsker was the Chief Deputy City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles, where he managed the operations of that office on behalf of the elected City Attorney and oversaw the advice and representation of all the departments, commissions and officers of the City. Earlier in his career, Mr. McOsker was in private practice as a partner and manager at a municipal law firm, during which he served as city attorney for several California municipalities.
In addition to a variety of civic, philanthropic and community leadership roles, Mr. McOsker was appointed last year by Gov. Jerry Brown to a three-member governing board that is responsible for dissolving the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles.
