INDIANAPOLIS (March 17, 2014) — David K. Herzog, leader of the national business litigation group at Faegre Baker Daniels, was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers on March 8 in La Quinta, California.
Founded in 1950, the College is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, and only after careful investigation, to those “experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.”
Membership in the College cannot exceed 1 percent of the total lawyer population of any state or province. There are currently approximately 5,789 members in the United States and Canada. The College strives to improve and elevate the standards of trial practice, the administration of justice and the ethics of the trial profession. Qualified lawyers are called to fellowship in the College from all branches of trial practice. They are carefully selected from among those who customarily represent plaintiffs in civil cases and those who customarily represent defendants, those who prosecute individuals accused of crime and those who defend them. The College is thus able to speak with a balanced voice on important issues affecting the legal profession and the administration of justice.
Herzog is a partner in the firm and focuses on complex business and commercial litigation. In nearly 34 years of practice, he has litigated many high-profile, high-value cases. Herzog’s experience includes serving as managing partner of Faegre Baker Daniels’ Indianapolis office and as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of Conseco Inc. He also serves on the board of trustees of the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis (which he chaired from 2006-11), the board of Indy Jazz Fest and the Tocqueville Council of United Way of Central Indiana.
Herzog joins fellow partners Jack M. Fribley, John P. Mandler, Michael S. McCarthy, James A. O’Neal and Charles F. Webber as a member of the College.
For clients involved in high-stakes disputes, the business litigation team at Faegre Baker Daniels masters complex issues and explains them simply, creatively and powerfully, to persuade decision-makers and win cases.
