Latham & Watkins Adds Prominent IP Litigator

April 14, 2014, Chicago … Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that David Callahan has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Litigation Department. Callahan’s practice focuses on complex litigation in the areas of patent, trademark, trade secret, false advertising and unfair competition.  Callahan’s addition to the firm’s litigation team comes on the heels of the addition of John Sikora, a former SEC official, to the Chicago office, and continues a pattern of national growth for the firm’s intellectual property litigation group.   

Callahan has more than 20 years of experience litigating intellectual property matters, has tried numerous bench and jury trials, and has argued many appeals before the Federal and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeal. He has particularly significant experience in the area of medical device patent disputes, and has represented clients in a diverse range of other technologies including semiconductors, consumer products, automotive products, and business methods among many others.

Callahan received his law degree from University of Michigan Law School in 1991.  He received his AB from the University of Chicago with honors in 1987.
