Quarles & Brady Opens Indianapolis Office

Firm Welcomes Several Highly Regarded Indianapolis Attorneys and Expands Health Care, Financial, Intellectual Property and Product Liability Practices

MILWAUKEE, WIS. (May 8, 2014) – The law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced the opening of its Indianapolis office, the firm’s ninth location nationwide. The new office will be located in the BMO Harris Plaza, at 135 North Pennsylvania Street.

“We are excited to have an Indianapolis platform to serve our clients and bring the strengths of our firm to serve the Indianapolis business community,” said Firm Chair Kimberly Leach Johnson. “TheIndianapolis attorneys joining our firm, as well as our attorneys from other offices who will spend significant time in Indianapolis, are veterans of the legal industry, with particular strengths in litigation, regulatory and transactional health care, financial services, intellectual property, product liability and toxic tort defense, and middle-market consultation, augmenting some of our signature areas of practice.”

Former Frost Brown Todd litigators Joshua B. Fleming, Daniel M. Long, Lucy R. Dollens and Joel E. Tragesser will be joining Quarles & Brady as partners in the new office. In addition, former Krieg DeVault partner Kristen L. Gentry will be joining the firm, also as a partner.

Indiana clients will further benefit from long-time Indianapolis attorney Randall R. Fearnow, whose health law practice in Indiana will be enhanced by the establishment of Quarles’ new office. Fearnow, along with Edward D. Rickert, Jeffery M. Monberg (also an Indiana-based attorney and a graduate of Notre Dame and Indiana University School of Law) and Mark W. Bina, all formerly of Krieg DeVault, joined Quarles & Brady in April.

In addition, Quarles Director of DEA Compliance and Litigation D. Linden Barber is moving his national practice from the firm’s Washington, D.C. office to his home state and will serve as office managing partner, ensuring continuity of the Quarles & Brady culture in the firm’s newest location. Barber is an Indiana native, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School and a resident of Indianapolis.

The news of Quarles locating in Indianapolis has not gone unnoticed by Andrew R. Klein, dean of the Indiana University Robert H. About the Attorneys: 

Linden Barber serves as office managing partner of the firm’s Indiana office and is director of the firm’s DEA Compliance and Litigation Practice Group, advising manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceutical controlled substances as well as pharmacies, hospitals and other DEA registrants. Prior to joining Quarles & Brady, Barber served for 12 years in a variety of positions at the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Joshua Fleming concentrates his practice in product liability and general commercial litigation. He has defended clients around the country in litigation involving product liability and premises liability claims, and complex and mass toxic tort claims, as well as prosecuting and defending a variety of commercial claims. Fleming’s litigation experience includes prosecuting and defending breach of contract and UCC Article 2 claims as well as enforcement of restrictive covenants contained in employment agreements, defending trade secret claims and handling other business-related disputes.

Daniel Longconcentrates his practice on defending manufacturers, premises owners and contractors in complex multiparty toxic exposure personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He is active in the Defense Research Institute’s Product Liability Group, serving as chair of the Chemical and Toxic Tort Specialty Litigation Group. Locally, Long is very active in the American Lung Association of Indiana, serving both on the board and as chair of the 2015 “Fight For Air Stair Climb” fundraising event.

Lucy Dollensconcentrates her practice in business as well as appellate litigation. She handles all aspects of business litigation disputes, including advising clients on a broad range of commercial issues prior to the initiation of litigation. Dollens’ practice also focuses on advising and defending large and small financial institutions, loan servicers, credit card issuers and other consumer finance companies regarding lender liability and consumer protection/fraud issues. She defends lenders, servicers and a broad range of consumer finance companies in class actions and other forums, including proceedings before bankruptcy courts and matters involving governmental agencies. Dollens also represents individuals and corporate clients in both state and federal appellate courts, and she represents amicus curiae parties regarding significant issues of Indiana law before Indiana’s Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Joel Tragesser practices in the areas of trademark law and brand management, intellectual property licensing and business intellectual property litigation. His work includes prosecuting trademark applications in the United States and foreign countries, drafting software licenses and litigating infringement, false advertising, unfair competition and business disputes. Tragesser represents clients in state and federal courts and often speaks on the interrelation of technology and intellectual property.

Kristen Gentry focuses her practice on issues concerning Medicaid and Medicare program reimbursement. She has also been instrumental in crafting Medicaid supplemental payment programs for a variety of health care providers, including hospitals, physicians, nursing facilities, dental clinics and ambulance services. Gentry is vice president of the Board of Executive Women in Health Care and frequently speaks on health care and employee benefits hot topics.
