Pa. First Deputy AG Rejoins Ballard Spahr

PHILADELPHIA (June 5, 2014) – Adrian R. King, Jr., the First Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, will rejoin Ballard Spahr on June 16 as a partner in the Business and Finance Department, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.

Mr. King focuses on general business and corporate law, government relations, regulatory affairs, government contracting, and gaming law. He helps clients identify and pursue opportunities that lie within the intersection of business and government and represents them before federal, state, and local executive branch and administrative agencies.

“Adrian is a dedicated public servant and an outstanding lawyer. We are pleased to welcome him back to the firm,” Mr. Stewart said. “During his time in Harrisburg, Adrian was involved in high-profile issues such as helping the Commonwealth recoup $120 million in contested tobacco settlement money. Mr. King was a partner at Ballard Spahr for more than seven years before taking the position with Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane in January 2013. Over the years, he has held a variety of high-profile positions in Pennsylvania government. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Edward G. Rendell and was later appointed to the Governor’s Cabinet as Director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, managing a budget of more than $100 million.

Mr. King also served as Governor Rendell’s liaison to the Departments of Banking and State, as well as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
