July 28, 2014 – DLA Piper announced today that Shane Albright has joined the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice as a partner in the Silicon Valley office.
Albright represents life sciences companies in a range of corporate and financial matters, including corporate partnering transactions, strategic alliances, technology licenses, and commercial contracts. In addition, he represents companies and investors in connection with venture financings, other funding transactions, and general corporate matters and frequently advises clients on licensing and commercial contract issues in connection with mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and other public financings. Albright’s experience and clients span a variety of life sciences sub-specialties such as biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics, vaccine and medical research.
“Shane has established a preeminent transactional life sciences practice and brings a strong background in advising emerging growth companies on biotech matters,” said Jay Smith, chair of DLA Piper’s US Corporate and Finance practice. “His skill set lends itself well to the licensing agreements and commercial transactions work the firm is doing across many segments of the life sciences sector.”

Albright, who joins DLA Piper from Hogan Lovells where he was a partner, is a frequent speaker on issues relating to licensing and corporate partnering. He earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School,his Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and his B.S. in biological sciences from Stanford University.
