September 8, 2014- Goodwin Procter announced today that five attorneys have joined as partners in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. They come to Goodwin from Kenyon & Kenyon, a specialty intellectual property firm known for litigating high-stakes patent cases.

Joining Goodwin Procter in New York are Elizabeth J. HollandRobert V. CerwinskiHuiya Wu, and Cynthia Lambert Hardman, and joining in Washington, D.C. is William G. James. The group has significant patent litigation experience relating to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and other life sciences, as well as Hatch-Waxman ANDA litigation, trade secret and ITC litigation, and inter partes review at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.

Elizabeth Holland is an experienced trial lawyer focusing exclusively on patent infringement and related litigation. With more than 25 years’ experience, she has litigated patents in a wide array of technical areas and industries, including those involving pharmaceutical, chemical, medical device, and consumer products. She has particular expertise in Hatch-Waxman litigation, having tried numerous cases in this area on behalf of both branded and generic drug companies. She chaired Kenyon & Kenyon’s Diversity Committee and was the first woman to serve on its Management Committee.

William James, who also served on Kenyon’s Management Committee, focuses his practice on patent litigation related to pharmaceutical and biotechnology products. He has significant experience with Hatch-Waxman litigations, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, including first-to-file cases and multi-defendant ANDA drug challenges. He also advises pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on freedom-to-operate, due diligence, licensing, and prosecution issues.

Robert Cerwinski has extensive experience litigating intellectual property matters. For more than a decade, he has successfully represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trade secret litigation before federal and state courts across the country. His primary focus is on litigation involving pharmaceutical and biological products.

Huiya Wu has practiced intellectual property law for over a decade, focusing on patent and related litigation. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants before federal district and state courts, as well as before the International Trade Commission. She handles all phases of U.S. patent litigation, including pre-trial investigation, fact and expert discovery, and motion, trial and appellate practice.

Cynthia Hardman has over a decade of experience litigating complex intellectual property cases, from developing initial strategy through appeal. She appears in cases before federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the International Trade Commission, and represents clients in the pharmaceutical, medical device, nutritional supplement, and consumer product industries.
