Leading Intellectual Property Attorney Joins Arent Fox

Los Angeles  – Well-known trademark attorney John Carson has joined the Los Angeles office of Arent Fox LLP, adding to the firm’s nationally recognized Intellectual Property practice.  Mr. Carson brings extensive experience in eCommerce, patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law, including licensing and litigation.

Mr. Carson formerly was with Foley & Lardner LLP where he was a member of the firm’s Trademark, Copyright & Advertising and Intellectual Property Litigation groups. His technical experience is with computer hardware and software, electrochemical, optics, and electromechanical systems. In addition, Mr. Carson has advised the California and Idaho Secretaries of State on trademark-related issues and often serves as arbitrator and mediator in the field. 

Legal 500 USA has recognized Mr. Carson as a leading lawyer for trademark counseling, while he has also been rated nationally by Best Lawyers in America for his IP work since 2007. Earlier this year, he was named the 2015 Los Angeles Trademark Law Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers. A frequent adviser on significant California legislation relating to intellectual property and trademarks, Mr. Carson is also a sought after speaker. 

Mr. Carson obtained a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Santa Clara and obtained his JD from Hastings College of Law. He is admitted to practice in California and before the US District Court, Central District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the US Supreme Court and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
