February 2, 2015, Washington, D.C.…Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Michael Morin and David Frazier, Ph.D. have joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as partners in the Litigation Department. Both are seasoned patent litigators, with particular experience in pharmaceutical and biologics cases, and they have handled cases involving some of the world’s best-selling drugs.
Morin litigates high-stakes patent disputes in a variety of subject matters, including in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arena, as well as in the software, consumer goods, medical device, video game, sporting goods and mechanical equipment areas. He has been lead counsel in many high-stakes cases, and has first-chaired numerous trials and arbitrations. Frazier focuses primarily on branded pharmaceutical and biologics patent litigation, handling both brand-on-brand and Hatch-Waxman cases. Frazier also regularly advises clients on IP-related issues outside the litigation context.
Matthew Moore, a Washington, D.C. partner and Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Mike and David to our team. In addition to being great people, Mike and David are exactly the type of experienced, first-chair trial lawyers that we have been strategically adding to our team in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Northern California and New York over the last four years.”
“In addition to their other, broad-based IP litigation experience, Mike and David are highly experienced with pharmaceutical and biologics technologies and related patents or cases concerning them. We are delighted to welcome them both to Latham and to add their technical backgrounds and exceptional trial skills to our growing patent litigation practice in the pharmaceutical arena, and particularly in biotechnology, where such work is poised to expand significantly,” added Chicago partner and Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group Kenneth Schuler.
Alice Fisher, Office Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office said: “We could not be happier to welcome Mike and David to the firm. “David and I are excited to be joining Latham & Watkins, a firm with an exceptional global platform and trial resources. We were particularly attracted to the strategic and collegial approach that the firm’s IP practice has taken to build a premier trial practice, and we look forward to contributing to that teamwork and success,” said Morin.
“In this highly competitive marketplace the stakes for clients are truly bet-the-company. I am thrilled to be joining, along with Mike, an integrated, talented group of partners. We look forward to continuing to build our practices with this team of experienced litigators,” said Frazier.
