WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 7, 2015) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Marc S. Martin has joined the firm as a partner and chair of the firm’s Communications practice. He was previously a partner at K&L Gates.  Joining with him as senior counsel in the Communications practice is Brendon P. Fowler. 

 

Marc provides counsel on regulatory, compliance and transactional matters to companies, entrepreneurs and investors in the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector.  He has significant experience structuring and negotiating agreements in the areas of technology and content licensing, procurement, mobile applications and distribution platforms.  Marc’s regulatory experience includes the representation of clients before the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Congress, the executive branch and the courts in TMT transactions, spectrum issues and auctions, FCC rulemakings, enforcement cases, privacy matters, commercial disputes and related issues.

Brendon has worked extensively with Marc representing clients at both the trial and appellate levels and has experience advising clients on FCC rulemaking, licensing and enforcement matters, and administrative law, and representing them in litigation.

Marc has advised and counseled market-leading mobile wireless operators, online music services, online gaming software companies, broadcasters, entertainment companies and others in regulatory compliance matters and critical mergers, acquisitions, ventures and agreements.  Earlier in his career, Marc served as an attorney in the FCC’s Office of Plans and Policy and in the predecessor to the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.  He also served as the chief legal officer for several technology and media companies.

 

He is regularly recognized as a leader in his field, including his selection as a “Top Washington Lawyer” finalist for Tech Transactions by the Washington Business Journal, and frequently writes and speaks on issues impacting the TMT sector.  Marc earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law (cum laude) and received his B.A. from Connecticut College (with distinction).

 

Brendon earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law where he was assistant executive editor of the Duke Law and Technology Review; he received his A.B. (cum laude) from Bowdoin College.
