HOUSTON, 21 May 2015 – Hogan Lovells announced today that Jeffrey Whittle has joined its Intellectual Property, Media, and Technology practice (IPMT) as a partner in the Houston office.
Whittle has a global intellectual property practice and focuses on the energy industry. With an emphasis on technology-based transactions, his practiceencompasses mergers and acquisitions, due diligence investigations and patent opinions. Whittle also focuses on patent protection, portfolio analysis and other various types of intellectual property contentious and counseling matters, including post grant patent challenges.
“Jeff’s high-caliber practice and deep knowledge of the energy space will positon us for continued success,” said Celine Crowson, head of the Americas IPMT practice of Hogan Lovells. “Jeff’s diverse practice will benefit our clients in a variety of ways, particularly with transactional matters as these are increasingly top of mind for clients.”
Whittle has more than twenty years of experience and served as the head of his former firm’s Technology & Intellectual Property Law Section. He has been recognized by Chambers USA, IAM Licensing 250, IAM Patent 1000 and The Legal 500 United States for his work in law and intellectual property.

In addition to his practice, Whittle is a member of legal associations including the Licensing Executives Society (where he is currently President Elect), American Intellectual Property Law Association and Federal Circuit Bar Association, among others. Whittle also has served on M.D. Anderson Cancer Center’s Technology Review Committee, IP Law360’s Advisory Board, and onWake Forest University School of Law’s Board of Visitors. He was recently awarded the 2015 Distinguished Service Award from the University of Houston Law Center.
Whittle earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, M.B.A from Wake Forest University and J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law.
