Boston, September 22, 2016…Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that Charles Larsen will join the Firm’s Global Intellectual Property (IP) Practice as a partner in its Boston office.
“The addition of Chuck reinforces our commitment to serving the Boston market and to growing in the United States,” says Executive Committee member Dave Koschik, who heads the Firm’s US Growth Team. “Chuck will enhance our ability to guide businesses in the life sciences and technology industries, as they continue to develop valuable products that drive the global economy.”
Larsen is dual-qualified in the United States and England and Wales. His practice focuses on strategic patent advocacy and counseling involving US and European patents, with a particular emphasis on the life sciences, including medical devices, diagnostics and chemistry. He advises on matters before the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and European Patent Office (EPO), including post-grant proceedings before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board and EPO oppositions, and coordinates transnational patent disputes involving US and European litigation.
“Being qualified to practice in the United States and the UK enables Chuck to provide companies with advice and strategy that are not limited to a single jurisdiction,” says Dimitrios Drivas, head of White & Case's Global IP Practice.
Larsen, formerly a partner at Ropes & Gray LLP, also provides strategic counseling and conducts patent validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate studies for both US and European patents, and advises clients on acquisitions and licensing of intellectual property.
Larsen’s arrival follows the hiring of partners Michael Kendall, Kevin Bolan, Lauren Papenhausen and Matthew Turnell to the Firm’s Boston office, which opened in April 2016.
