PALO ALTO, Calif. (October 31, 2016) – Perkins Coie is pleased to announce that Troy Foster has joined the firm’s Palo Alto office as a partner in the Emerging Companies & Venture Capital (ECVC) practice. Troy recently served as the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at TrueCar, Inc. prior to spending 14 years at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in the firm’s corporate practice group.

Troy’s practice assists a wide range of corporate and entrepreneurial clients including emerging growth companies, venture capital firms, public companies and investment banks. He counsels clients on corporate finance, corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital issues. Troy also has hands-on experience with securities class action and high-stakes corporate litigation as well as regulatory compliance across industries. He has represented dozens of clients through various venture capital, equity, and strategic financings. Troy has also counseled public and private companies through various merger and asset sale transactions in the technology, digital media and life science sectors.

Troy earned his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he served as Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles. After law school, Troy served as law clerk to the Honorable Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Troy is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law.
