LOS ANGELES, CA (November 14, 2016) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce employment litigator Elizabeth “Liz” Murphy has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a Principal. Ms. Murphy, who joins Jackson Lewis from Manning & Kass, brings to the firm over 20 years of experience in employment litigation.
“Liz is a highly skilled litigator and strategist with first-chair trial experience who has carved out a unique niche within the home healthcare industry,” said Mia Farber,Los Angeles Office Managing Principal. “Her experience and knowledge in that arena complements Jackson Lewis’ burgeoning Health Law and Transactions Practice Group and adds depth to many additional practice areas, including Labor and Preventive Practices, Immigration, Employee Benefits and Workplace Safety.”

Ms. Murphy has handled multiple litigation matters, including class actions, from inception through completion, and has first-chaired several employment arbitration cases. She has prepared, argued and prevailed in many summary judgment motions, and focuses her practice in the field of home healthcare through extensive lecturing and counseling work in support of home care employers throughout the state of California. Ms. Murphy’s experience includes advising employers in day-to-day management, such as handling sensitive terminations, preparing and negotiating employment and severance agreements, preparing and revising employee handbooks, training management and staff, and administering leaves of absence; and representing employers in wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, and other employment-related litigation in state and federal court, arbitration, and before various governmental agencies such as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the Employment Development Department, and the Department of Labor.
Ms. Murphy received her B.S. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. She is a member of the Home Care Association of America and the California Association for Health Services at Home, and a frequent contributor to Home Health Line, a subscription-only industry publication that helps home health agencies provide excellent patient care and increase profitability.
