WASHINGTON, D.C. – May 8, 2018 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to grow its Washington, D.C. office with the addition of Capitol Hill veteran Jonathan Becker,who joins as shareholder in the firm’s Government Law & Policy Practice. Becker, a former Senate Chief of Staff to Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) previously worked for public policy firm Invariant, where he led the judiciary and telecommunications practice group.
“With 15 years of experience in law, policy, and politics, Jonathan has the D.C. trifecta, and we are excited that he is joining Greenberg Traurig’s federal lobbying team in D.C.,” said Government Law & Policy Practice Senior Director Diane Blagman. “His insight and experience, as well as his deep understanding of Capitol Hill, will be invaluable to our clients.”
Becker’s practice focuses on providing legal guidance on policy issues including antitrust, technology, telecommunications, intellectual property, media, and transportation. He has experience devising and executing public policy strategies in Congress and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Trade Commission, and the Federal Communications Commission.

Becker previously worked as a public policy consultant at a Fortune 100 company, and spent six years in Senator Klobuchar’s office, as Chief Counsel and then as Chief of Staff. During the earlier part of his career, he practiced law at a large, national law firm. Before that, he served as a Law Clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; a special assistant to the Senior Counsel for Nominations in the White House; and a special assistant in DOJ’s Antitrust Division.

Becker received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2001, and his B.A. from Wesleyan University in 1995.
