Hanover, MD (April 20, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, welcomes Thanh Nguyen, director, to its In-House Counsel Recruiting team in Los Angeles. Thanh will focus on helping organizations find top lawyers and compliance professionals across all industries.
“We are excited to have Thanh as a member of our team in Southern California,” said Chad Marlow, executive director of the In-House Counsel Recruiting team. “Thanh’s professional experience brings immediate value to those we serve. As a business executive, lawyer, and leader within top law firms and complex legal departments, Thanh will be able to serve as an advisor to our clients and candidates on the myriad issues they face.”
Prior to joining MLA, Thanh was an executive and legal director at PepsiCo, Inc., where she developed the company’s Global Anticorruption Third Party Due Diligence program and conducted internal investigations involving potential violations of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Before going in-house, Thanh was a litigation associate at Clifford Chance US LLP in Washington, D.C., and later at Latham & Watkins in Chicago, where she represented multinational clients in bet-the-company litigation and in FCPA internal investigations. In her pre-law career, Thanh was a business manager overseeing teams and operations in sales, shipping and import/export compliance at a Chicago-based privately held company.
“As external and in-house counsel to a number of Fortune 500 companies, I understand the unique combination of legal experiences and executive qualities that companies are looking for in their legal and compliance talent,” said Thanh. “I am excited to bring my diversity of experiences advising companies and lawyers at the intersection of business, law and compliance to MLA. I also look forward to contributing significantly to diversity & inclusion (D&I) initiatives in placing legal talent.”
D&I has been a focus for Thanh in all of her roles, including in-house at PepsiCo where she was Chair of PepsiCo’s Larry D. Thompson Legacy of Leadership Fellowship, a legal internship program dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession.
Thanh earned her J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School and her B.A. in Historycum laude from Northwestern University.
