NEW YORK (Nov 1, 2013) – Professor G. Ray Warner, of counsel with international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, was presented with the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges’ (NCBJ) 2013 Excellence in Education Award. He was unanimously selected as the recipient by the Endowment for Education of the NCBJ and joins a distinguished group of academics, practitioners and judges who have received this award. Professor Warner formally received the award at the annual meeting of the NCBJ in Atlanta in yesterday.
According to NCBJ’s web site, the award is given periodically to persons who have made exceptional contributions in the field of bankruptcy law education, and is the premier honor bestowed by the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges.
In addition to being a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Business Reorganization & Financial Restructuringpractice in New York, Warner is a professor of law and the associate dean for bankruptcy studies at St. John's University School of Law in New York. He built and directs the extensive St. John's bankruptcy program, which includes, among other things, the nation's only LL.M. in bankruptcy, the national Duberstein bankruptcy moot court competition, the ABI Law Review, and the ABI/St. John's Bankruptcy Mediation Training. Professor Warner teaches bankruptcy, commercial law and international business law at St. John's and bankruptcy law at Columbia. In addition, he was recently named course leader for the INSOL Global Insolvency Practice. Prior to joining the St. John's faculty, Professor Warner was the William B. Boreland Distinguished Scholar and Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He has held leadership positions in several bankruptcy organizations, including service as Secretary to the American Bankruptcy Institute and as Chair of the American Board of Certification.
