Hogan Lovells Partner to Receive AALDEF Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. 9 December 2014 – Hogan Lovells is pleased to announce that The Asian American Legal Defense Fund (AALDEF) will honor Partner Neal Katyal with a 2015 Justice in Action Award. He will receive the award at AALDEF's Annual Lunar New Year Gala on Monday, 23 February, 2015 in New York City. AALDEF is honoring Neal in recognition of his professional and personal accomplishments as one of the nation’s most influential Asian American lawyers and his longtime commitment to social justice. Neal just argued his 23rd case last week at the United States Supreme Court, and will be arguing his 24th in January.
The AALDEF Justice in Action Awards recognize exceptional individuals for their outstanding achievements and efforts in advancing social justice. Past recipients include the late civil rights icon Fred Korematsu, Congressman John Lewis, David Henry Hwang, Sandra Leung, Fareed Zakaria, Jose Antonio Vargas, BD Wong, Don H. Liu, Mira Nair, Deval Patrick, George Takei, Katrina vanden Heuvel, Harry Belafonte, Seymour Hersh, Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl Wu Dunn, John G. Chou, Margaret Cho, and Yoko Ono.
Since 1974, AALDEF has been protecting and promoting the civil rights of Asian Americans across the nation through litigation, advocacy, organizing, and community education. All proceeds from the Lunar New Year Gala will go directly towards supporting AALDEF's legal and educational programs in immigrant rights, economic justice for workers, voting rights and civic participation, educational equity, and the elimination of hate violence, police misconduct, and human trafficking.
