LOS ANGELES – McGuireWoods continues to grow its national employment litigation practice with the arrival of partner Timothy M. Rusche, who has over two decades of experience advising employers in wage-and-hour litigation and compliance matters. Rusche joins the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office, strengthening the firm’s California labor and employment capabilities.

Rusche defends employers in wage-and-hour class and collective actions, as well as matters involving alleged workplace harassment, wrongful termination, employment discrimination, retaliation and breach of employment contracts.

Rusche also advises clients on workforce restructuring, wage-and-hour audits, employment contacts, employment policies, noncompete agreements, employee handbooks, misconduct investigations and other compliance issues. He comes to McGuireWoods from Seyfarth Shaw.

“Tim’s ability to guide companies through complicated employment disputes and help them manage risk enhances our West Coast practice and benefits our clients nationwide,” said Noreen Kelly, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation.

Rusche’s move to McGuireWoods follows the recent arrival of Pittsburgh labor and employment partner Gretchen E. Woodruff, who joined the firm in January 2025.

“Tim is an accomplished litigator and trusted adviser who understands the challenges clients face in complying with increasingly complex employment laws,” said Elena Marcuss, chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department. “He will be a great addition to our labor and employment team in California.”

McGuireWoods’ labor and employment lawyers advise local, national and multinational employers — including small businesses, government entities and Fortune 500 companies — on compliance with state, federal and international law; internal investigations; federal contracting; and executive compensation. The firm earned a nationwide ranking for labor and employment in the 2024 “Chambers USA” guide and national Tier 1 rankings for labor and employment litigation and employment law in the 2025 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”

"McGuireWoods has a national reputation for excellence in employment and class action litigation and I am excited for the opportunity to help the firm build on those strengths in California,” Rusche said.

Alice Youngbar, managing partner of the firm’s downtown Los Angeles and Century City offices, added: “Tim’s experience and business acumen add enormous value for the firm and our clients, and we are delighted to welcome him.”
