CINCINNATI (January 14, 2014) – Ulmer & Berne LLP announced a significant expansion to its Intellectual Property & Technology Practice with the addition of patent litigator John F. Bennett as counsel in the firm’s Cincinnati office. Mr. Bennett, who joins Ulmer & Berne from Baker & Hostetler, adds depth to the Intellectual Property & Technology practice, consisting of over 20 attorneys including 18 registered patent attorneys.

“Successful litigation stems from persuasion through meticulous preparation and effective communication, which John has mastered to the benefit of his clients,” said Eric Robbins, chair of Ulmer & Berne’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. “John brings deep patent litigation experience to the Cincinnati office, allowing us to provide our clients with full-service intellectual property and technology capabilities here.”

Handling over 20 patent litigations in the last four years, Mr. Bennett is an accomplished patent litigator that serves a wide range of clients – from small companies to large corporations. He is savvy on both sides of litigation, representing patent owners and accused infringers. He also has extensive experience with cases involving trademark, copyright, trade secrets, unfair competition, and other intellectual property claims. In addition, he also has experience handling complex business litigation. His experience covers a wide range of technologies, and he has represented clients in matters before federal district courts throughout the U.S., including the largest patent multidistrict litigation in history.

“John is another example of the high caliber of talent we have recruited to the Cincinnati office,” said Scott Kadish, partner-in-charge of Ulmer & Berne’s Cincinnati office. “John will increase the service we can provide to our clients and add to our ability to exceed client expectations.”

Mr. Bennett has been named to the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list and is involved in the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Association and the Cincinnati Bar Association, where he serves as co-chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Committee. Mr. Bennett earned his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Saint Thomas and his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.  Prior to his legal career, Mr. Bennett was the founder of a software company and the architect of its flagship software product, which had hundreds of thousands of users.
